CHANGES TO ESSENTIAL AND NON-ESSENTIAL BUSINESS AND SERVICES IN THE PENDER HARBOUR AREA

The Pender Harbour and Area Residents Association has prepared the following list of business and services in the Pender Harbour Area detailing businesses that are either closed or gradually reopening as a result of the easing of Covid-19 restrictions. We are updating this list daily, however things are changing so quickly that we advise contacting the business/service to confirm details. The Pender Harbour Health Center has volunteers that will drop off groceries, pharmacy items and even make phone calls to check how folks are doing. The Program Coordinator is Kym Harris 604-883-2764. See also the Pender Harbour Health Center listing under “Medical” below.
A new COVID-19 Emergency Food & Essentials hotline has been set up by Sunshine Coast Community Services for families and individuals who cannot afford food or essential items and are not able to access the Food Bank. Pender Harbour Health Centre (604-883-2764) firstname.lastname@example.org. Open 8 am – 4 pm (closed for lunch 12 – 1). Nurse practitioner Annaliese is available by appointment. Lab service 8:15 am – 2 pm Monday to Friday (closed for lunch 12 – 1). Call registered massage therapists and chiropractors for new policies.
If you have symptoms of the coronavirus, phone the centre first and they will provide support and direction. The Health Centre has developed a registry of volunteers to drop off groceries etc. to your door without contact if you are self-isolating/ill. The Health Centre wants the community to know that they are there to help. Just call.
Pender Harbour Doctors. Call the Sechelt Medical Clinic for a phone consultation or, when necessary, a physical appointment (604-885-2257) with Doctors Forgie, McDowell and Robinson.
Marina Pharmacy (604-883-2888). Prescriptions should be phoned or emailed (email@example.com) in two days ahead of time. Only two people allowed in store at once. Pharmacist can extend existing prescriptions without the doctor signing off. Pharmacy and drug store closed on Sunday and open 9:30 – 5:30 Monday to Saturday.
NOTE RE Emergency Prescription Delivery. If you are ill, self-isolating or unable to get out but need a prescription filled, they are to call the pharmacy. The pharmacy will contact the paramedics and give the address and phone number of the person it is going to and the delivery will then take place. Note: Please be kind to the pharmacist when ordering your prescription and to the paramedics—We are all trying to work together and realize that all of us have stress, anxiety and fears too. Pender Harbour Dental (604-883-2997). OPEN.
Madeira Park Veterinary Hospital (firstname.lastname@example.org 604-883-2488). Office is OPEN Monday, Wednesday & Friday 9 am – 5 pm. Only one person at a time in office, wearing mask. Otherwise, Vet can be reached remotely (by phone).
IGA (604-883-9100). Open 8:30 to 6 seven days a week. Reusable bags allowed in the store, but must be packed by customer. Open early for SENIORS ONLY Wednesday and Friday 7:30 am – 8:30 am. IGA is encouraging people to shop online and lessen the amount of people in store. https://shop.igabc.com
Oak Tree Market (604-883-2411). Trying to keep social distancing by not allowing too many customers at a time. Good selection of take out meals. Have removed tables/seating from in front of store. See Harbour Pizza in Non-Essential Services below.
John Henry’s Marina & Resort (604-883-2336). Store and liquor open seven days a week, 9 am to 7 pm daily. TAKE OUT is open (limited menu) starting June 1, noon to 7 pm. Inside cafe seating closed, picnic tables outside store. More information in Non-Essential Services below.
Bathgate General Store (604-883-2222). Open 11 to 4:30 Monday to Saturday. No cash transactions, but tap and Interac okay. Previously ordered and paid by credit card orders are picked up outside.
The Red Gold & Green Food Company delivers organic vegetables and fruits once a week from Halfmoon Bay (where Teal Loverock is based) to Egmont. They post on their Facebook page the crops they have each week and you can order a $20, $30 or $40 basket by emailing email@example.com or calling 604-989-9544.
Pender Harbour/Egmont Food Bank (at the Pender Harbour Community Church, 12891 Lagoon Road). The next date for Egmont clients will be June 22 from 11:30 to 12:30. The next date for Pender clients will be June 29 from 11:30 to 12:30. Beginning July 13 the food bank will be operating every second Monday for both Egmont and Pender clients. Egmont clients will pick up at 11 am and Pender Clients will pick up at 11:30. Contact Joka Wright, 604-883-9773, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
BANKING: SCCU ONLY OPEN TUESDAY AND FRIDAY
Sunshine Coast Credit Union (604-740-2662) sunshineccu.com. Only one member in the bank at a time. New Hours: Tuesday and Friday only 10 am to 2 pm. Member Service Centre (MSC) is Monday to Friday 7:30 am – 6:30 pm, Saturday 7:30 am – 5 pm.
Garden Bay (604-883-1101). Closed Saturdays. One person at a time inside. Parcel pickup at side door. Madeira Park (604-883-9333). Open 9:30 to 4:30, Monday to Friday, except Thursdays, 9:30 to 5:30. Closed Saturdays. One person at a time inside. Parcel pick up inside. Egmont (604-883-9652). No one is allowed inside. Customers to remain on the deck, only one person at a time. Parcels are handed out the door (Postmistress wearing gloves).
If self-isolating, call your local post office to let them know you are sending a friend and give the name of the person. They will have to show ID to get mail.
RCMP Streetfront offices in Gibsons and Sechelt now OPEN. Emergency dial 911. Non-emergency, dial 604-885-2266.
BC Ferries. The BC Ferries schedules for the West Vancouver (Horseshoe Bay/Sunshine Coast (Langdale) route, the Horseshoe Bay/Nanaimo route and the Earls Cove/Saltery Bay (Powell River) route are in constant flux. Passengers can continue to stay in their cars on any level of the ferry. Partial food service has been restored, but the gift shops remain closed until further notice. Sunshine Coast Connector (bus).
On Fridays and Saturdays they run both ways between Langdale and Powell River
On Mondays and Wednesdays they run both ways between Langdale and Earl’s Cove ferry terminal

Coastal Rides (ride hailing service) coastalrides.ca. Limited service NOW AVAILABLE on the Lower Sunshine Coast.
Sunshine Coast Air (604-740-8889). Reduced schedule Monday to Friday and Sunday. No service Saturday.
Harbour Air (605-885-8774) www.harbourair.com Most routes are back in operation. Check with the airline for the latest schedule.
Coastal Air (604-885-4422) www.flycoastal.ca. OPEN for business with Covid measures in place.
PUBLIC WASHROOMS AND SHOWERS
Public Washrooms/Showers are now open at Millennium Park (Madeira Park Wharf). The facilities, adjacent to the harbour master office, are open to the public from 9:30 to 4:30 (closed for lunch noon to 12:30) seven days a week. Special deep cleaning procedures are in place. Fees for showers have been waived.
Artist Gallery is CLOSED until further notice.
Aqui Es Mexican Restaurant (604-883-2223) (Harbour Spirit Centre, Madeira Park Road). OPEN 11:30 – 7:30 FOR DINING INSIDE AND ON PATIO. TAKE OUT TOO. See photo of menu on Facebook (search for Corner Café Mexican Kitchen).
Backeddy Pub (604-883-2298, email@example.com). The Resort and Pub are OPEN. The pub is open 7 days a week. Same great food, same great view, but enjoyed outside, picnic style for both the restaurant and pub.
Bargain Barn. The Bargain Barn’s pop-up store will remain OPEN Wednesdays and Saturdays 12 – 3 pm, but is now located at the Legion. Bargain Barn is once again accepting donations of quality, salable items Wednesdays only starting July 8, noon to 3 pm at the original location. Maximum two garbage bags limit each day. Garden Bay Resort (4460 Garden Bay Road, at Claydon Road, 604-393-3823). Monthly RV rental spots only at this time.
Garden Club (phgardenclub.ca). Meetings CANCELLED until further notice.
Grips Recycling (604-883-1165). Open, except Wed and Sunday. Sort at home first. Two people at a time in recycling room. One person at a time in refunds room.
Grasshopper Pub/Liquor Store/Pender Harbour Hotel. Pub is NOW OPEN noon to 10 pm, with the kitchen closing at 9 pm. New layout has been configured for social distancing. Maximum of six people per party. Liquor store open, one person at a time, 9:30 am to 9 pm.
Harbour Gallery (12954 Gonzales Rd). OPEN Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 11 am to 4 pm.
Harbour Insurance (604-883-2794). Office temporarily CLOSED to walk-in clients. Renewals, policy changes, cancellations, storage policies; temporary operating permits by mail to ICBC only. New plate policies, transfer of ownership, registration of new or imported vehicles must be in person BY APPOINTMENT ONLY, Tuesday to Saturday 10 – 4 pm. Alternately, check with Sechelt Insurance (604-885-3261).
Harbour Pizza. NOW OPEN Friday and Saturday 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Take out only. Pizza “take and bake” and “ready-to-cook” meals available at Oak Tree during Oak Tree opening hours seven days a week.
Income Tax (Free Tax Clinic) (Harry Drost: 604-741-5132). Procedures have changed due to Covid-19. Click here for more info.
Java Docks cafe. OPEN 7 am – 3 pm.

Madeira Marina OPEN for business, two customers in the building at a time. Taking phone, email orders. Still operating as normal otherwise. Please don’t approach working mechanics.
Madeira Market (behind Community Hall). OPEN Saturdays, 11 am to 3 pm.
Mamas Japanese Kitchen (604-883-9190) mamaskitchen.ca Harbour Spirit Centre, Madeira Park Road). OPEN for dine-in and takeout. Monday to Saturday, lunch: 12 – 2:30, dinner 4 – 7. Closed Sunday.
Painted Boat Resort (604-883-2456, 12849 Lagoon Rd. Madeira Park). Restaurant and spa OPEN June 17. There will be a 48-hour rest between check out and check into units. NO daily cleaning service while occupied.
Parks, Provincial. Skookumchuck Provincial Park, Francis Point Provincial Park and Mt. Daniel trail now OPEN.
Pender Harbour Aquatic & Fitness Centre CLOSED until further notice.
Pender Harbour Automotive and Tire (604-883-3646). One customer in office at a time. Chains across work bay doors—staff only in work areas.

Pender Harbour Golf Course. OPEN for all golfers. Restaurant OPEN.
Pender Harbour Hikers. CANCELLED until further notice. People are encouraged to hike on their own.

Sechelt Hospital Foundation’s on-going MedTalks series. Sessions address the many psychological elements we face during the current climate of uncertainty. Together with the help of local Mental Health counsellors on the Coast, the MedTalk series explores ideas and experiences that support our ability to navigate this territory with courage and compassion. Open fire prohibition In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the effect pollutants have on viral respiratory infections, open burning restrictions now in place for all High Smoke Sensitivity Zones across the province, including parts of the Sunshine Coast. The ban has been EXTENDED past June 15. NO OPEN BURNING (except for small campfires) in the Pender Harbour/Garden Bay/Egmont fire districts.
